Paul E. Kirby

On April 1st, 1971 Kirby’s Paneling Center opened its doors in Mechanicsburg. Created by brothers-in-laws Paul E. Kirby and William A. Sockman. Paul had been in the building industry for 20 years and had the desire to start his own building supply business.

Kirby’s Paneling Center started out possessing one of the largest inventories of paneling in the area while selling a diverse supply of plywood, moldings, lumber, ceiling tile, and flooring. While we no longer stock Paneling, we are proud of the history our company has.

Paul and William owned the business together until William retired in 1988. In 2006, Paul Kirby retired which led his nephew, Bill Sockman Sr. to purchase the company to keep the family business in good hands. Bill Sockman Sr. had worked at Kirby’s Paneling Center since 1973.

Todd, Lanette and Jake Zeigler

In October 2006 the name “Kirby’s Paneling Center” was changed to “Kirby’s Remodeling and Flooring Center, Inc.”. Bill Sockman Sr. has expanded the store’s inventory to include decks, vinyl railings, doors, windows, and Sun Setter awnings.

In March 2022 Bill Sockman, after 51 years of serving the community, retired. A 15-year employee Todd Zeigler and his family wanted to keep the business running and continue to serve the local community. Todd and Lanette Zeigler along with their son Jake Zeigler are the new owners of “Kirby’s Remodeling, Inc.”
